Hello,
I have an amazing 9 month old mini lop called Rosie. I live in Sydney but unfortunately will have to move back overseas in April. I have looked into sending Rosie overseas by plane but I have a few concerns. It is a 24 hour trip. She is quite fragile being a bunny and only about 2 kg. I would have to trust the pet transport company to deliver her safely. Finally it is very expensive - over 2000$. I don't mind paying this if she can travel safely and is not put under too much stress but I don't want to expose her to too much risk. She is such a great pet with a terrific personality and I didn't forsee family circumstances forcing me home or I would not have got her. I just want what is best for her even if that means giving her to another owner.
Has anyone any experience with bunnies on planes / travelling long distances? Do you think the risk is too great?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this as I am anxious to do the best thing for my bunny.

Hi there, I realise this is an old post but wondered what you ended up doing in this situation? I am currently living in Sydney and in about a years time will be moving back to Europe. I was hoping that I would be able to find an airline that would allow me to take my two rabbits in the cabin as I coudln't bear to think of them travelling in cargo for such a long time without be being able to check on them. Unfortunately I've been told that Australian legislation is such that no pets are allowed to fly out of the country in the cabin (with the exception of service dogs) and must all be in cargo.
I have no idea how rabbits cope with such a long journey in cargo and haven't been able to find anyone who has made a similar journey.
