G'day I’m mike and over the last few months I have been considering buying a giant Flemish rabbit, and I would like to ask a few questions, to better understand the needs of a rabbit
1. is a giant Flemish a good first rabbit to own
2. will it be more affectionate
3. would it's companionship be more like a dog than a small rabbit
4. will it follow me around
5. will it grow to the size of a medium sized cat or dog I’ve seen photos of some very large ones
now for my concerns about the rabbits health
1. as I live in Australia and the area where I live can get upwards of 35 degrees would the rabbit adjust well to that environment
2. I have a concern about picking up the rabbit as I have heard you can seriously injure them if held wrong and if they kick there back legs, is this more of a issue for a Flemish as there so large or is it less likely to cause injury as they are bigger
3. kind of the same as 2 but if it's sitting on my lap on the lounge and it decided it wanted to go on the floor and jumped off would that cause injury to the rabbit or would that be fine same as if it wanted to get onto the lounge could it do so on it's own accord without hurting it's self
4. my mother is not to keen about keeping the rabbit inside the house (not in a cage) and has said rabbits are messy and smell, I would like to know if what my mothers says is true
and lastly if I post some links to the rabbits I’m considering buying could you tell me if they are a true Flemish or if mixed if they will grow just as large
