Just thought id make a thread on what everyone feeds their bunnies.. I have heard of lots of basic diets being fed also weird things such as rolled oats as a base feed. We feed our bunnies LOTS of hay, lots of grass, and a pellet mix we make up which has maize, chaff, oats, jack rabbit pellets and sunny seeds Oh plus, alfalfa sprouts, carrots, tomatoes etc etc lots of treats! So what do you feed??

a high majority of my mix is oaten chaff (with some lucerne mixed in), rabbit pellets and oaten hay (thats mainly their bedding tho) then every day i give them each their own piled bowl full (equivilent to 4 heaped cups) of chopped carrot & peelings, bean sprouts, whole sweet peas and broccoli & the stalks and once a fortnight they get a very tiny bit of apple, banana dried fruit and a small pinch of oats as a treat. . . .

My bunny Rocky eats a base of grass and a lucerne pellet mix which has different seeds and a bit of dried fruit, lucerne chaff, rolled oats, and whatever else is in it, he loves it! He has a chew on his bedding which is just hay, and I feed him a little carrot, celery, apple, basil, parsley and dandelions. And other things too like random peelings. He isn't fussy which is great Is it true that they shouldn't eat too much lucerne as it is too high in calcium?

Whilst they are young, lucerne hay is ok as they are still growing, when they are older it as not recommended because of the high calcium levels as it can cause bladder stones. Parsley also has high calcium levels, just so you are aware

I feed Alfie most of the above but favorite treats are Raspberry leaves, coriander and celery greens. We grow Raspberries so can't wait for spring and the leaves appear!
