I didn't know lettuce was bad for rabbits? I used to give my bunnies lettuce twice a week in small amounts. Next time I have bunnies I wont give them any (or much?) My bunnies loved strawberries! Once I went through about $75 worth of strawberries in a week for 7 bunnies! Lol.

Lettuce has lots of water in it, so it just goes straight through them and can cause diarrhea. It has virtually no nutritional value, so its kind of a waste of money Wow $75 worth of strawberries! Expensive little buggers! lol

I've also noticed that my rabbit, Dobby, loves chinese brocolli and leafy part of bok choy... but generally asian greens are okay. And, those outer leaves of cabbages (the really dark green part - ones that the grocers throw away) is also a favourite. ahh.. yes, a tiny piece of banana will make your bunny beg like crazy!! - not too much though.. bananas are high in calorie, not good. just a tiny bit.

Chinese Brocolli is the english version. If you go to asian shops or coles or woolies even sometimes they call it "Kai Lan" or "Gai Lan." Its dark green leafy and has a stalk.
Or other asian vegies that rabbits like are: Pak Choy and Bok Choy.
My rule of thumb is any type of "... choy" that has dark green leaves is all good. You can find it in Coles or Woolies.

I wondered about pak choy....I havent fed it before...but figured it would be ok because it sounds the same as bok choy lol Interesting to know about the "Kai/Gai Lan" there is a produce shop down the road from me, I will have to ask them if they have it

let us know how that goes! Dobby, the picky rabbit, would eat the leafy bits and leave the stalky bits. He won't eat the stalk unless he really has to.. which most of the time he doesn't.

Dumb question but you can't see my face so do they have pellets or rabbit mix as a staple diet and fruit and veg as an extra, or do you just give them a veg/fruit mix?

I feed mine pellets and fruit grain mix as a stable diet with hay and then they get all the veges as extras most days

I feed my girl a base of grass hay and pellets, and then veggies/fruits on top of that
